Area Review: Sathorn — Bangkok's Business District
Sathorn combines corporate convenience with surprisingly green riverside living.
Sathorn is Bangkok's primary financial district — but it's also home to some of the city's best riverside dining, embassies with leafy grounds, and increasingly, high-quality residential towers.
Pros
- BTS Chong Nonsi + MRT Lumphini give dual-line connectivity
- Walk to Lumpini Park — Bangkok's Central Park equivalent
- Embassies, hospitals, and international offices nearby
- River ferries add a scenic commute option
Cons
- Traffic congestion during rush hour is severe
- Condo prices are among Bangkok's highest (฿150K–300K/sqm)
- Less street food culture than Sukhumvit — more sit-down dining
- Nightlife is limited compared to Thonglor/RCA
